Back Again

Once upon a time there was a girl. She liked to write and thought she was witty AF, and so this girl decided to start a blog. The girl loved her little blog…it served as a necessary outlet during some crazy times. But, somehow, life in quarantine got busy (surprising, I know)—and even more stressful (probably not too surprising)—and the girl struggled to find the time and motivation to write. After months of not visiting her little blog, she realized she had to make a decision: she either had to kill that sweet little blog she loved so much, or cut the shit and start writing again.

Well, Guess who’s back, back again? Angel’s back, tell a friend (seriously, spread the word). [Side note: how is it possible that Eminem’s “Without Me” was released in 2002?!]

Anyways, a lot has happened since my last post: the holidays came and went (they were depressingly lonely this year); we’ve been fully remote since Thanksgiving [another side note: today is Jacoby’s first day back in classroom since November 24th…and it was glorious]; we rescued a dog (just piling on the crazy over here); 20-fucking-20 finally ended; there’s a vaccine; a new president; and it’s suddenly colder than a penguin’s pecker.

So here we are…2021! And with almost an entire month already gone! I’m a big resolutions gal. I start every year with a reasonably-sized list of self-improvements focused on health, finances, personal character, etc. I always get off to a good start, but usually say “fuck it” by springtime and fall back into old habits, knowing I can just start over again in 7-8 months with yet another new year. This year though will be different. I owe it to myself and am determined to make positive changes that stick. In addition to my normal list of resolutions, I’m forcing my husband and 7-year-old son to set weekly intentions with me to help keep our goals on track. We shared this week’s (2 each) last night at dinner so that we can hold each other accountable. This week, my intentions are to drink more water and to reconnect with my little blog. (Jacoby’s are to brush his teeth twice a day (yep, it’s gross that this requires intent) and to pick up his snack wrappers and throw them in the fucking trash). Buckle up folks, I’m back at it (again)!
